    A woman accused of leaving her 2-year-old child in a field on June 14 has been convicted, according to the Kern County District Attorney's Office. A jury trial found Stacey Nikkel guilty of felony willful child cruelty on Nov. 20. Nikkel had left her child in a field in Golden Hills overnight.

    Tehachapi Police seized approximately $3,700 in counterfeit bills along with counterfeit equipment on Nov. 12. Two people were taken into custody. The Sheriff's office has asked for the public's help with any new information regarding the death of 38-year-old Robert Limon. Limon was found dead in an industrial complex at 1528 Goodrick Drive on Aug. 17 and shortly after established it as a murder.

    Voters can avoid a long line by dropping off vote-by-mail ballots at the county elections office in Bakersfield on Nov. 1. In an effort to assist the public and shorten the lines at the polls on Election Day, the Kern County Elections Office located at 1115 Truxtun Ave., first floor will be open on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for voting and return of vote-by-mail ballots. Curbside drop off for Vote by Mail Ballots will also be available on the same day and time at the elections office on N Street.
