Roses for Boston's Rosie's Place Women's Craft Cooperative
- Guyot Brothers Company, Inc. has recently donated 300 vintage brass roses to Rosie's Place Women's Craft Cooperative, located in Boston, Massachusetts. The Women's Craft Cooperative, in existence since 1996, is helping women help themselves by turning new and vintage buttons and other findings into decorative accessories including jewelry, bookmarks, lanyards, and holiday cards. Rosie's Place provides safe, dignified temporary housing for hundreds of women each year. It is the first drop-in and emergency shelter for women in the United States. The Crafts Cooperative creates a collaborative work environment where women obtain job readiness skills and learn craft skills, as well as elements of merchandising. The aim is to foster self-esteem by introducing employable skills. Merchandise can be purchased at their boutique or at a number of retail locations in and around the Boston area. Guyot Brothers, a 105 year-old manufacturer of stamped brass jewelry findings, was inspired by the productive efforts of the sanctuary for women. The company's owners have long believed that jewelry is an important form of self-expression and they hope that these beautifully detailed vintage brass three-dimensional roses will help to feed the creative spirit of the women at Rosie's Place. Located in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the Birthplace of the Jewelry Industry in America, Guyot Brothers continues to manufacture their high-quality line of stamped jewelry findings, including filigree, charms, floral, and other decorative items.
