    Despite not getting approval from the North Coast Section, as well as the Central Coast Section and the powerful Southern Section, the California Interscholastic Federation got the votes it needed Friday to expand its state football regionals from five to 13 divisions. The expansion became official at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose when the CIF's Federated Council voted 71-64 in favor of the much-publicized proposal.

He will be looking to bring down his time, improve his finish and possibly make a run at the CCS record of 14:58, by Lynbrook's Jason Balkman back in 1994, at the state cross country finals Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.
