    J.W. Oliver An Alna man is in "serious, but stable" condition after sustaining a head injury, the "accidental result" of a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot to a woman in Alna Saturday, Nov. 22. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and first responders from Alna and Wiscasset received a call at 7:17 a.m. to respond to a residence on the West Alna Road for a report of a woman with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. The emergency personnel found Laura Ezzell-Travis, 23, deceased and A.J. Lang, 22, suffering from a head injury.

    By Dominik Lobkowicz Republican Senate candidate Les Fossel, of Alna, filed a recount request with the Department of the Secretary of State Nov. 12 in his bid against Sen. Chris Johnson, D-Somerville, for Senate District 13. Unofficial election results from Nov. 4 placed Johnson ahead with a 339-vote lead over Fossel, a difference of 1.82 percent of the total votes cast. Since the percentage difference between Fossel and Johnson is less than 2 percent of the total votes cast, Fossel is not required to deposit any money for the recount under Maine law.
