    The cleanliness levels of St John's Hospital's Accident and Emergency Unit were called into question after a recent inspection by healthcare officials found examples of contamination in the department. Last week the Healthcare Environment Inspectorate , which is part of Healthcare Improvement Scotland, published its report relating to an unannounced inspection visit to the hospital on August 20 and 21. Despite findings showing that the hospital environment was generally clean, it was also made clear that improvements were needed, especially in the A&E department, after patient trolley beds, mattresses and covers were found to be contaminated, while examination lamps were also found to have blood on them.
