The veteran right-hander, who has not pitched in a game since June 29, 2013, with the White Sox, had thrown off the mound 10 times this spring and had worked his way through three live batting-practice sessions before suffering shoulder soreness that set him back briefly during the week of March 16. With that setback in mind, Crain won't put a time frame toward any future targets or goals after momentarily thinking there was a chance to break camp with the team with as strong as he felt a few weeks back.
