    An American Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N35.77000 E140.37000 performing flight AA-182 from Shanghai Pudong to Los Angeles,CA with 253 people on board, was enroute at FL350 about 250nm eastnortheast of Tokyo when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Tokyo's Narita Airport due to a stench on board believed to originate from the cargo hold. The crew descended the aircraft to FL200 for the way back and landed safely in Tokyo about 50 minutes later.
