My father's nickname was "Dooley," though I have no idea why. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with his nickname, but I can still recall my father playing the 1958 song by The Kingston Trio, "Tom Dooley," and being taken in by the fact that the lyrics were crafted to portray a real-life event.
