Catchy music and humor collide Sept. 17 when Southern Culture on the Skids performs at John Ascuaga's Nugget.

The country-fried band Southern Culture on the Skids will play Crossroads later this year, according to pollstar.com. For more than 20 years, the tongue-in-cheek North Carolina-based band has mixed elements of rockabilly, country, blues and punk, into their albums and fun-filled live shows.

If basic, primitive, old-school rock with a novelty kick is a band's calling card, they're bound to make the same music over and over.

There's little dour enough in the world today that a fix of Southern Culture on the Skids won't cure.
