I was interested until I saw who the "judges" are, and I thought for a moment about the overall concept. There's something rotten about this - and as for the judges, there isn't a "Gent" among them.

If they really wanted it to be authentic, they should have raided England and France for some authentic "Bluebloods"- not some minstrel like "Bentley" (or whatever his real name is). Gents behave that way because they believe in their own superiority of intellect, financial wealth and status. It's a cultural concept that is far more than wearing suits and knowing which fork is for salad. Only when the English accents, language and overall patriarchal mentality that it demands is brought in full will the underlying problem of this show come to full light. I suppose it is well intentioned - trying to bring these ganstas into the positive side of things. But the premise is all wrong.

Stereotypes aside (there are a range of culture clashes with the concept of a "Gent" that go against traditional Black culture) regardless of who's on it or who sponsored it, the show is ultimately focused on, once again, turning Black culture on its ear. So, thanks B-more Sun for the info, but this article is as far as I'll get to this show.
