Anyone who saw Steve Carell's romantic comedy "Dan in Real Life" is familiar with Sondre Lerche's music, whether they know it or not.

"Have you ever seen those documentaries about people who stockpile newspapers and bread and bicycles?" chuckles Paddy McAloon.

Paddy McAloon remembers it all too well: 23 January 2006, when the maverick genius behind Prefab Sprout was last able to sing his own songs.

I've being a songwriter for around 15 years and have undergone many musical forms to get to this point now.... A signature sound of down-to-earth, quirky guitar-pop is proving to appeal to an extremely broad market, with gigs attracting audiences of all ages and musical tastes.
