Sure, he got Bumblebee, but I'd much rather have Optimus as my compatriot. Driving a Camaro or a Bug might be better than a big rig but Bumblebee wasn't voiced by Peter Cullen.

To lend some context to this review, I was a big fan of the first Transformers film.

A joyless cacophony, an insistent and seemingly endless onslaught, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," director Michael Bay's follow-up to the 2007 smash "Transformers" plays more like a parody of a Bay movie.

THERE are apparently 42 different robots in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Any self-respecting Transformers fan knows about the impending release of the "Revenge of the Fallen" movie set to premiere in theaters on June 24.

They don't make children's toys like they used to, and they certainly don't make marketing-driven-cartoon-tie-in shows like they used to either.

Transformers may well be the only show that began as a line of toys, came to life on TV as an animated miniseries, then begat not only a blockbuster movie franchise but at least a dozen TV series.

Even if acid wash jeans and shoulder pads haven't made a comeback, in Hollywood at least, the '80s are in vogue.
