Movie Review: 'Gainsbourg (A Heroic Life)' an original dedicated to an original
Joann Sfar 's "Gainsbourg " is an emotional fairy tale that combines what Sfar imagines Gainsbourg's internal life must have been with documented biographical highs and low.
The door to the old house in rural Perthshire that belongs to John Wills and Pinkie Maclure has a brass knocker shaped like a smiling sun.
It might be thinly written and messily made, but Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life is also appropriately glamorous and intense -- and powerfully led by a gripping performance from Erik Elmosnino.
