That's the message of 'American Music: Off the Record,' the latest documentary from Kansas City filmmaker Benjamin Meade. It opens today at the Glenwood Arts.
For a year Meade and his wife and collaborator, Diana Meade, attended dozens of live musical performances by touring bands (usually at Knuckleheads in the East Bottoms). They filmed the artists both on and off stage and got their subjects to discuss their experiences in the music business. Read more
