In the entertainment industry, it's all about whom you know. But sometimes, when stars align and likeminded artists connect, all that silly networking business gets thrown out the window.

Wilco played a gorgeously melancholic set at the Warfield, reminding a sold-out crowd of the magic that happens when a masterful rock band's fantastic songs sound as good onstage as on its records.

Currently wrapping up a handful of California dates, alt rock trail-blazers Wilco have arrived at about the halfway mark of their epic world tour behind "The Whole Love," which dropped last September.

One of America's finest and hardest-working alternative rock/country acts is back on the road this month, resuming their tour in support of their Grammy-nominated 2011 album, The Whole Love .

When we first saw that Wilco was featured in a "Popeye the Sailor Man" comic strip with its own brand of spinach, we figured it was nothing more than a nod to the band's unconventional merch efforts .

It is not very often that Gammage is filled with a crowd of all ages, dancing and singing along to some solid alternative rock music.
