Classic tale retold through puppetry
SALISBURY Arts Centre is telling classic stories this weekend with a puppet play of the Pied Piper and a beautiful French animation of a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. Returning to the city on Saturday, September 13, the Norwich Puppet Theatre's one man show combines puppetry, upbeat music and storytelling for their adaption of the Pied Piper, for children aged 3 - 7 years.

What's not to admire bout the Danes, a people honored for their rescue of endangered Jews in World War II and an astonishing linguistic facility? When you throw in Hamlet and the great ur -classic of Englit, Beowulf , which both take place on Danish soil, it seems almost incidental that they were written in England. And lest we forget, we must add to this roll call Hans Christian Andersen , who, along with the brothers Grimm, was one of three godfathers of the fairy tale.

'What the Moon Saw' Puppeteer Sarah Frechette remixes Hans Christian Andersen's "Thumbelina" with "The Ugly Duckling" to tell the story of two misfit characters who join forces to outwit their meddlesome nocturnal adversaries in this original theater piece.
