When compared with the polished stuff that usually dominates the airwaves, music that is stripped down often seems like a breath of fresh air.

A Guided By Voices reunion is not a surprising thing. Robert Pollard dissolved the band in 2004, but continued to churn out songs at a startling pace for his various side projects, including Lifeguards, Circus Devils, and Boston Spaceships, some of which included collaborations with ex-GBV members.

Though its members have come and gone through the years , Guided by Voices' career can be divided into two segments.
