Whigs wear their '90s indie rock influence proudly

The members of the Whigs don't have to reveal their age in conversation. It's evident that the Athens, Ga., trio grew up during the early '90s. Robert Pollard: The Devil Went Home and Puked

The Product: Until someone comes along and decides to do the definitive ala Anvil documentary on Guided by Voices and their cockrock inspired founder, Robert "Bob" Pollard, we will have to be happy with occasional video flights of fancy from the former grade school teacher turned pop song genius himself.

This Week's Forgotten Gem of the '80s - Guided by Voices' "The Future Is in Eggs"

Dayton, Ohio's indie rock heroes Guided by Voices - who just happen to sport one of rock music's finest all-time band names - may not garner much mention if any when the conversation turns to '80s music, but that doesn't mean it's excusable to ignore the group's groundbreaking, influential work of its late-'80s formative stage.

In Defense of Hi-Fi Maturity: Pains of Being Pure at Heart @ Black Cat

It's probably not fair to call The Pains of Being Pure at Heart a lo-fi band. Certainly, the New York group 's self-titled album sounds appropriately hissy and fuzzy.
