Miami's retro electro-dance duo BFGF will bring the party to Fort Lauderdale's Brick Rock Bar Wednesday, performing their blend of minimalistic electronic instrumentation and Casiotone-loving Fischerspooner clash.

Though he's widely considered the figurehead of the electroclash movement by exposing the world to acts like Fischerspooner and Miss Kittin & The Hacker through his own International Deejay Gigolo imprint, DJ Hell has carved a notable career for himself well before and after said movement's early 21st century heyday.

Often neglected in all the chatter about electroclash, enormous signing bonuses and Casey Spooner's penchant for costumed finery back in the day was that Fischerspooner had wicked dance-pop songs and a frontman whose voice conveyed genuine personality even when it was fed through machines.

Like deer in the headlights-- Fischerspooner peer into the distant future. They call it electroclash-- but the fine distinctions that separate electro pioneers Kraftwerk, 80s goth-popsters Depeche Mode, and modern virtuosos like Fischerspooner are so arbitrarily drawn and so fraught with exception that they need not be mentioned in a 300 word blog.

Electronic music isn't generally known for its dazzling stage shows, but that's not the case with Fischerspooner.

I feel terrible that I ran out of time to write up Fischerspooner last week. If you're in the mood for some awesome synth pop that is actually not Depeche Mode redux , there's definitely going to be a dance party at Showbox at the Market tonight.
