When you think of sludgy, molasses-like riffs, you probably think of 90s alt-rockers Dinosaur Jr.

The fine folks at punk toy firm Aggronautix, famous for their GG Allin and Keith Morris "throbbleheads," have now outdone themselves, yet again, with the release of a J Mascis model, complete with real human hair.

Those in the Bay Area looking to satisfy their hunger for some crushing, sonic-assault fretwork knew where to find it on this Thursday night, as legendary post-punk guitarist J Mascus and his band Dinosaur Jr.

Dinosaur Jr. were largely responsible for returning lead guitar to indie rock and, along with their peers the Pixies, they injected late-'80s alternative rock with monumental levels of pure guitar noise.

J Mascis, founder of Dinosaur Jr. and creator of some of the modern rock era's most signature chops, has joined the ranks of the Throbblehead elite.

But the sound of the alarm in the early a.m. at the start of the work week is particularly brutal.

For six lucky Dinosaur Jr. fans, June 25, 2011 was probably one of the best days of their lives.

Known to many as Murph, Emmett Jefferson Murphy III is a drummer who has never attended a floating rock 'n' roll festival.
