In a bygone age of television, married couples slept in twin beds. Lucy and Ricky Ricardo had twin beds in their bedroom on the television show "I Love Lucy," and so did Rob and Laura on "The Dick Van Dyke Show." Historians attribute this to an overall sense of morality -- thou shalt not indicate husband and wife share a bed on public television.

lol...I know just how you feel. I have four cats that take over my bed. I'm like your husband...I too have finger cramps from holding on for dear life!!
