I discovered Devo as a child, like I had with Talking Heads and The Specials, on Saturday Night Live during my musical awakening period in the late '70s and the dawn of the '80s. Devo performed a herky-jerky cover of The Rolling Stones' " Satisfaction" while wearing yellow radiation suits on the 1978 show hosted by Fred Willard.

First band announced at Coachella may be Devo
The pioneering new wave band, Devo, has been announced as the first confirmed act at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival by KROQ radio in Pasadena.
Devo, currently on a mini tour of North America including Toronto tonight and tomorrow night, were known as much for hits like Whip It as their unusual outfits which included yellow hazmat jumpsuits and red energy dome hats that resembled upside down flower pots.

Devo performed two nights in a row at Irving Plaza in NYC over the weekend. And like they did on their whole current tour, they played a diffferent full album each night.
Remember Devo of Whip It fame? Well, the '70s New Wave band will release their first studio album in 20 years, tentatively titled Fresh, in 2010 and launch a new tour starting with a date at Coachella Music Festival in April.

Devo plans to release its first new studio album in 20 years in 2010, but the band that's touring now is rooted firmly in the late '70s and early '80s. Four original members, plus a younger drummer , are revisiting their two most noteworthy albums, both just rereleased by Warner Brothers.

Devo album, "Q:Are We Not Men? A:We Are Devo!" Devo takes over Chicago tonight with performance at the Vic Theater of their classic album, "Q:Are We Not Men? A:We Are Devo!" They will play the whole album which should make for a nice 45 minute show! The band's four original members are still together plus a new drummer, Josh Freese.
