Day After Tomorrow News

My initial impression of this week's episode of Fringe , "Welcome to Westfield," was that it looked like a disaster movie.

While many are focusing attention on the political arena, some are beginning to discuss the Mayan and Hopi Indian prophecies that the end of the world as we know it may be December 21, 2012.

I liked "Day After Tomorrow" when the Tom Waits-written song came out on his 2004 album, "Real Gone." But I grew to love it when Linda Thompson included a live version of it on her 2007 release, "Versatile Heart." The song is written in the style of a letter from a solider, stationed overseas.

Have you ever witnessed impending doom, but with no way to stop it? Think Jake Gyllenhaal's "Day After Tomorrow" - those climatologists knew something - or "Batman and Robin." I think we all saw that flop coming.

While the film is a classic action movie featuring hugely exaggerated events , it does present some genuine scientific information about ocean circulation, ice core sampling and past climate shifts.
