This article was taken from Pierce's comments in his stint on "The View", and are printed with a totally different spin on the truth. I saw him on the view. He was asked about it and he said that he and his partner had gotten married without fanfare. He said that he was glad that he and his partner were still legally married. He was very polite and dignified in his discussion. He did not blast anyone.

1 Same sex marriage is a civil rights issue. I think Gays and Lesbians should be angered at being told what they can and cannot do with their personal lives, worse yet, within the confines of their own homes. To say they're not entitled to the same rights as every American is to say they're a lesser human being then a straight male or female. That's nonsense and prejudicial. I thought we had moved beyond such narrow thinking in the great nation. I wish them all the luck in the world in their current fight for equality. DHP is absolutely right when he says; "It's none of your business". I agree with SAW - the article is taken out of context. Mr.Pierce's disagreement was strong and pointed, but elequently and calmly conveyed. But then fans of DHP have come to know that whatever subject on which he is speaking will be put forth with fine articulation and calm passion. Let's not lose sight either of all his fine charitable contributions. He helped bring Alzheimer's into the light for so many. It's no longer shameful or just old age, it a disease with a name and a face. God bless him. May he have many more years of success, and may he and Mr. Hargrove have many more happy years together. In the end - we are one. We are Americans. We live in the greatest nation on earth, and as we have accepted people from all over the world in the United States and granted to them all the rights of all natural citizens our great country, we should so grant the same considerations to our own fellow Americans. |

1 civil rights? what next, pedophiles win the right to marry their victims? men marry horses, goats & cows? whats the big deal aout gay marriage anyway, if even when they were eligible, so few married? I'm guessing that gays are about 1% of California's population, here's the math, see below; source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California California's population (2008 est.): 36,756,666 10% of that would be: 3,675,667 36,756,666 x .1 = 3,675,666.6 0.1% of that would be: 36,757 36,756,666 x .001 = 36,756.666 according to an LA Times article; http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-gay-m... only 18,000 gay couples married during that 5 month window, even knowing that there was a possibility that prop 8 would past. that means only 36,000 gay people are married that figure is closer to 0.1% than 10%, 0.1%= 36,757 if marriage was so important to gays, why did only .001 of Californians eligible bother to marry? could it be cold feet? a little shyness? not ready to make such a big commitment? or could it be that gays are really only 1% or less, but because many are actors/actresses in movies/TV or activists that are so bigger than life that it makes it seem that they are really a larger proportion than their 1%? |

1 Your arguement is irrelevant. It's purely sarcasm. An American's right to choose is not a legal issue, it is a Civil Rights issue. As opposed to those examples of deviance you list - which are illegal. As for your cold feet arguement. Like straight couples; not all Gays and Lesbians want to marry, however; it shouldn't be in the hands of the government or strangers if they choose to do so. Your opinion is shared by many and while I disagree with you, you are entitled to it - it's your CIVIL RIGHT. But if you choose to argue a point or points - it's best done with facts and intelligence - not sarcasm. |
