The smooth jazz resurrection rolls on! I've contemplated my navel in trying to work out why this genre has come back to life and the only conclusion I have is that now the music is musical, the musicians are more accomplished and the style is funkier.

Singer-songwriter Randy Newman, comedian Lewis Black and pop-jazz trumpeter Chris Botti are among the acts scheduled to appear at the 2013 Montalvo Arts Center Summer Concert Series in Saratoga.

The Campagne Jazz Series has brought some of the biggest names in contemporary jazz to the area, including Dave Koz, Kenny G and Spyro Gyra.
