DVD deals

I've bought two new DVDs in the past two weeks for a total of less than $12. And they were both movies I actually wanted to see! The first movie was the summer blockbuster "Star Trek," which I pre-ordered for $9.98. Walmart.com has started an online price war with Amazon and Barnes & Noble for pre-orders of hotly-anticipated books and DVDs.

Pretty pointless

Documentary. Featuring Walt Disney. Directed by Theodore Thomas. Images Have you seen one of Christopher Guest's mock documentaries, particularly "A Mighty Wind" or "Best in Show," in which comically obsessed characters talk directly to the camera with great and ridiculous earnestness? Interview: Catherine O'Hara of Where the Wild Things Are

Catherine O'Hara is my idea of the ultimate funny aunt. At the Royal York Hotel for a roundtable interview with Toronto press promoting Where the Wild Things Are , she is high-spirited, fast-talking, and engaged to an extent that is downright noble for someone who has been woken up early for a day of inane interviews.

Wednesday's episode of "Glee" promises more musical moments, more high school romance, more problems from the geeks in the glee club, and more of Jane Lynch's over-the-top villainous character, Sue Sylvester.

Think Michael Moore is edgy? Then you haven't seen Matt Dunstone's...

Picture an unlikely hybrid of the mockumentary goofiness popularized by Christopher Guest with works like "This Is Spinal Tap" and "Best in Show" and the call-to-action imperative of a Discovery Channel documentary.

Just What You've Always Wanted! A Catherine O'Hara Mega Post

The subject of what's permissible for children is apropos since the Canadian-born actress voices negative, neurotic Judith, one of the titular creatures in director Spike Jonze's dark but resonant Where the Wild Things Are, which opens Friday.
