Culture at the crossroads in Belle Epoque France will be explored at the ninth annual Bard SummerScape festival, which once again features a sumptuous tapestry of music, opera, theater, dance, film, and cabaret, keyed to the theme of the 23rd annual Bard Music Festival.

In a long life in music, French composer Camille Saint-Saens was regarded as a revolutionary in his early years and an arch conservative at his death in 1921.

Ten young classical musicians, ages 12 to 21, have won this year's top regional music contest, "Young Artists Debut! The Van Buren Concerto Competition." From a pool of 51 contestants, the winners will perform with orchestra in a concert at the Newmark Theatre, April 10.
