Veteransa gravestones go back to Civil War in IOOF Cemetery
In the sun-dappled grass under tall old firs at Monroe's I.O.O.F. Cemetery on Old Owen Road, the headstones of veterans are usually easy to find, clearly marked as most are with the war in which the person served, as well as his or her rank.

When I began my journey as a living historian in 1963 I met an American Civil War reenactor who told me a story about Mount Moriah Cemetery Pennsylvania which he said was the "Valhalla of Pennsylvania." I knew about the classical idea of Valhalla , hall of the honored dead, but nothing about Mount Moriah Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
