1 The race for governor in New Jersey is so close in final polls that it may well end up in a recount -- the 1981 election did and was decided by less than 1,800 votes. If there is a recount, you can bet disputes about absentee ballots will loom large. Moreover, if serious allegations of fraud emerge, you can also expect less-than-vigorous investigation by the Obama Justice Department -- which showed just how seriously it takes such allegations when it walked away from an open-and-shut voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party in Philadelphia earlier this year. Plenty of reasons exist for suspecting absentee fraud may play a significant role in tomorrow's Garden State contests. Groups associated with Acorn in neighboring Pennsylvania and New York appear to have moved into the state. An independent candidate for mayor in Camden has already leveled charges that voter fraud is occurring in his city. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party in New Jersey is taking advantage of a new loosely written vote-by-mail law to pressure county clerks not to vigorously use signature checks to evaluate the authenticity of absentee ballots, the only verification procedure allowed. |

2 Americans were conned last year. They fell for the oldest political trick in the book - they believed Obama's promises. Emotions and feelings, not logic, brought us this liberal Democratic administration. Reason gave way to American Idol. Obama was elected because he was not a republican. "Hope" is not a strategy for governing, and neither is always blaming the GOP, Rush Limbaugh and FOX News. The Democrats have controlled the legislature for three years now. In his first 9 months, Obama and his liberal buddies like Nanny Pelosi have committed us to more debt than all previous presidents combined. Since "Benedict" Arlen Specter tried to save his own political ass by defecting to the Democratic Party, our nation's 60th and deciding vote on all things that matter will most likely be cast by comedian and angry liberal Al Franken. This is what our country has come to. Can you say "Supreme Court Justice Janeane Garofalo"? |

2 Again I have to call you out on your stupidity. Clinton tryed to get OBL after the Cole and World trade center garage bombing, but as I recall, after he sent bombs into Afganastan and missed OBL by mere minutes, he was attacked by republicans, republicans that had the majority of BOTH congresses, slandered by those republicans as "Wagging the dog" as trying to shift the focus away from the Lewinski affair. The republicans were more interested in embarassing Clinton that going after OBL. Had he had the crital support from republican to activly go after Bin Laden then, maybe the twin towers would still be standing. Democrats are not as aggresive as republicans in attacking the other party, I wish they went after Bush and his administration like the repugs did in going after Clinton and now Obama, the should be on the offensive and not constintly on the defensive. |

1 Great post, Eugene. Shows your firm grasp of the English language along with an intellectual profundity matched by few posters on Topix. That said, could you help me with "repug"? Along with a bunch of other words in your post, it doesn't seem to be in any dictionary. |

3 Obama should be tried for treason for conspiring to destroy the American economy and giving aid and comfort to enemies of our nation. Losing just isn't good enough. |

1 WASHINGTON - In a very early test of President Barack Obama's political influence, two states are choosing whether to continue Democratic rule while voters elsewhere elect a handful of congressmen and big-city mayors. Elected just a year ago, the president has spent a considerable amount of time and energy trying to ensure that Democrats win governor's races in Virginia and New Jersey and pick up a GOP-held congressional seat in upstate New York. In doing so, Obama raised the stakes of a low-enthusiasm off-year election season — and risked political embarrassment if any lost. |
