Conservative Attacks Health Care Reform by Saying "Next They'll Want Food"

Full story: snafu-ed.blogspot.com

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the U.N. in 1948, states the following: Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food , clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control. Apparently, conservatives may not agree.

Are these the same people that have free health care for life?
What's wrong with this picture?
Conservatives only care about the unborn after that it's every man for themselves. It's no way to run things

I take care of myself and I feed myself. I'm sick and tired of a Nanny State which refuses to promote any values or responsibilities, instead telling it's dumbed-down flock: "Do whatever you want. I you mess up, someone else will take care of it."

I'm not paying for the results of "If it feels good, do it" and no consequences for actions. Where's my rebate for taking care of myself?

If you bleeding hearts want to take care of everyone, go right ahead, if it floats your boat. I'm not joining your dance party.

obama has already pledged one trillion dollars to feed the world's hungry. This pledge was made during obama's first trip to Europe.
Look out middle class. obama is going to redistribute the wealth.

This conservative ignorance and greed is why we must be diligent, and seize the moment at hand.

Maybe if we tell them if all our children and adults have access to health care, there will be more people to bestow tax cuts upon...

Sigh. Ten percent of Canada's GDP is spent on health care for 100 percent of the population. The U.S. spends 17 percent of its GDP but 15 percent of its population has no coverage whatsoever and millions of others have inadequate coverage. In essence, the U.S. system is considerably more expensive than Canada's. Part of the reason for this is uninsured and underinsured people in the U.S. still get sick and eventually seek care. People who cannot afford care wait until advanced stages of an illness to see a doctor and then do so through emergency rooms, which cost considerably more than primary care services.

What the you may not realize is that such care costs about $45 billion per year, and someone has to pay it. This is why insurance premiums increase every year for insured patients while co-pays and deductibles also rise rapidly.

You're already paying for it. Only "it's" not health care, it's people using the emergency room as a primary provider, it's people that are seriously ill or terminally ill costing enormous sums of money, when preventative care or routine care would have saved us all more than a few bucks, it's people walking away from medical bills because that's their only option, and it's a health care system set up like a house of cards waiting to collapse, but still costing us more of our paychecks than any other developed nation on Earth.

Congratulations, by the way, on your compassion and humanity. Not everyone currently without health care coverage is a slob, loser, or irresponsible dilletante. Some are regular people that have lost their jobs, taken pay cuts, endured tough times, or lost benefits, and that are looking to improve their situations with little luck in these difficult times.

Everyone deserves basic and adequate health care, just as they deserve and should receive an adequate education. Both are necessary for a productive, progressive, functional society and nation. How people cannot see that is beyond me. And how people can be as callous as you is beneath us all.

This is pure socialist dogma. If you provide for all these things ... food, shelter, healthcare ... who is going to work? If few people work, who is going to grow the food, build the houses ... become doctors and nurses?
We saw this in the USSR ... where people stood for hours waiting for the CHANCE of buying a loaf of bread... and still we have millions of idiots that think they know better, and think socialism will work ... it doesn't!

My "bleeding heart" believes every kid should have access to an education in the public school system.

My children have not benefitted one penny, one cent, one dollar from the free education system but I believe the non-moocher children deserve that education.
