The night before Paul Dhaliwal, 19, and his older brother Kulbir, 24, filed a claim against the city of San Francisco alleging serious injury and emotional harm, the younger Dhaliwal was arrested on suspicion of theft.

These Kids may very well have been at the zoo causing trouble... Should it be punished by death? I'm not feeling sorry so much for these young men who should have known better. But I have to wonder would you still feel it serves them right if it had been 6yr olds teasing those cats? Wouldn't the law say I was at fault if I failed to contain my dog and someone was injured? I agree they don't deserve a payday, but I think a zoo should be safer than a wild safari also.

The teasing a 6 year old can do does not compare to what a 19 and a 24 year old get up to. I don't think a 6 year old could have climbed that fence either. If you fail to contain your dog then you deserve your day in court because a dog is a pet living in our enviroment where as a tiger is a wild animal and lives < for our protection >in a cage.
Shame the tiger didn't eat these two and saved tax payers a lot of money. Maybe the tiger is a fussy eater!

The main blame goes to USDA who sets up cage regulations yet does not update them Siberians were not a common cat in captivity when these regs were wqritten. They are the largest of the tigers, require rules of their own. Feds do blanket laws- this rule is for tigers, this rule is for pcbs (there are over 200 kinds of pcb's, most have never been linked to cancer) this rule is for asbestos (one kind of asbestos from a South African source used years ago is the main cause of problems). If the government ever hired talented, knowledgeable people, instead of dimwits who pass one size fits all blanket regulations, this story and many others would be different.

I hope all the people that were crying for these dimwits finally see them for what they are. Cowardly trouble makers who were up to no good. I don't think the tiger should have been able to escape, but I also don't believe it should have been killed. Now they're gonna sue. Something is seriously wrong with this picture. Criminals shouldn't be rewarded.

In a way I agree, but I also know how hard it is to capture an escaped tiger, how long it takes tranq darts to work (we've had two loose from corncrib style 'zoos' up here, I was in on one of the captures). and the potentil danger to everyone remaining there, not to mention the danger to animals in other enclosures, it wasn't much of a choice I'm afraid. In both cases here my advice was shoot to kill, but they went with the darts, and by sheer luck it worked out okay.

Paulie and brother Kulbir were caught stealing a box containing "Tiger Lure" a powerful sexual scent taken from the glands of female bengal tigers and used by "Frosted Flakes" manufacturers to lure "Tony" into the studios for his T.V. commercials. The two lads confessed that they both posess strong "uncontrollable" urges to mate with Zoo Tigers and were planning a Tiger "panty Raid" at the San Diego zoo this weekend.

there was so much emotional harm that he turned to crime. this guy is a loser and when his lawsuit goes before a judge, i hope it is thrown out and he be made to pay court costs and lawyer fees so taxpayers won't have to foot the bill for yet more nonsense. the zoo should sue them on behalf of the tiger for harassment.

BUT THEY were NOT 6yr olds, they WERE grown men, who went to the zoo drunk, continued to drink had sling shots and intended to do harm. THEY KNEW RIGHT from wrong. They all deserved to be mauled. By the way, if you 6yr old kid, does this obviously you have not taught him/her respect for life.

Animals know a scumbag when they see one. My lab knows if you are a good person just by sniffing your crotch. He has a 95% success rate so these tigers are probably at least as good at it.

My shepherd, too! The big difference is that if you are in the 5% category with my dog, you get your butt grabbed. These guys should have stuck with torturing stray cats, as I'm sure they did- Karma, baby!

Fact remains, the lad who died at the zoo along with the tiger on that surreal and fateful night, would still be alive today, were it not for these Dhaliwal brothers. I hope the victim's father considers filing a civil suit against both survivors who seem hell bent on continuing to menace.

On another note, the San Francisco Zoo must be pretty bad- inadequate security, facilities, and poor animal care. We NEVER had any trouble with that cat here in Denver, where he was born and raised, but he sure hated it there. The Zoo should pay, but the money should go to animal shelters and animal cruelty prevention, not these idiots.

I hope the lawyer who thinks he has a tiger by the tail and is going to get a big settlement representing these clowns, gets his just rewards -becoming tiger food himself. But I'm sure any Tiger out there worth his salt would have an aversion to bottom feeders.

This animal had attacked before. Yes, it was a tiger, but you can only let them maim andd kill so many people.
