And just where are the elected officials who said that they were going change things during the last election? Why they are out enjoying the money that the oil companies padded their pockets with. Every time you buy gasoline think of these bums. Fill up on election day right before you vote. That should jog your memory. Price gouging at its finest and our elected representatives are allowing for it to happen.

Are you talking about the Democratic Congress?

They just told you that to get elected.

Wait until the Democrats raise the price of gas $.50 to help fight global warming.

But remeber they are looking out for your best interest.

Don't worry about gas prices. Congress will just hike the minimum wage again. That will fix the problem.

The Democrats are not going to raise the price of gasoline one cent at the federal level... you can stop trying to foist that BS off on people, they have already realized it's crap and that the Repukians are the ones who are MORE LIKELY to do that, by about 10,000 times.

Anyone notice the price of a gallon ofgas has tripled, while the cost of a barrel of oil only dubled, while the profit of the big 4 oil companies has quadrupled. I barely passed economics but I do know that doesn't add up.

That's right MI has that elected offical who thinks they should add a $0.50 gas tax to get consummers to stop wasting gas. The only wiggle room I have left is to quite going to work. If we all do this who is going to pay the taxes?

Yep, the $0.50 new gas tax is really going to help the economy too...right into the dumpster.

It's going to go up 50 cents no matter what. Get out your bicycles! If you drive an SUV - so sorry for you! Of course as the cost of energy goes up, so does everything else. We're all screwed.

This is the one thing that always shocks me, how little people really know about the gas mileage on an SUV. Our three SUVs get better or just the same gas mileage as 95% of the cars out there that aren't hybrids.

Of course we are not talking Hummers, which is not an SUV, but in a class by itself.

gas should be no more than 2$ a gallon and that is too much there needs to be a ceiling on gas and utilities.people who are less fortunate spend their whole paychecks on food and gas not to mention having enough for rent and other bills. totally PATHETIC.

I'm retired, stay at home and use about $20.00 a month in gasoline. I shop for a week at a time and conserve energy at home. If everyone that didn't need to go to work would just cut back it would help reduce the price, and if everyone would get together and just stay home 2 or 3 days gas would drop to a buck a gallon. How about someone with a little pull get this shutdown organized and just do it?

Tell them to commute to work or take public transportation. Necessity is the mother of invention.
