The ethics board can only be as effective if INSULATED from the crap that caused it's formation.

While, I think Mr. Reyes is good stock, I don't think that Public Entity Executive Directors, General Managers and Officers of Elected Boards should be eligible for this Commission. I'm not suggesting that one exists, but there appears to be an inherent conflict of interest.

Putting Chuy Reyes on the Ethics Commission is like putting a very hungry fox in the henhouse. Willie Gandara reveals himself to be fully in the Reyes camp -- and the Reyes pocket.

You cannot create something ethical out of an unethical process. This is El Paso at it's core. Things will never get better here.

Here's a better idea... how about choosing Avergae Joe and Josephina to be on this ethics commission? Lawyers, Politicians, and business people have proven to be exceedingly unethical in the El Paso region.

What qualifies one to be an ethics commissioner? I should think that they be required to have a fairly high number of collegiate level ethics classes, perhaps an exhaustive background check and current activities and acquaintancies investigations as well?

Chuy Reyes on the Ethics Commission?!?!?
The damn thing is a sad joke before it even gets off the ground!
Is Willie Gandara so freakin' stupid that he can't see how absurd this is?

Lets see the "ETHICS" Committee is going to have a LAWYER and a relative of Reyes?? Anybody see anything at all wrong here??? What exactly is the point of all this?? Everybody knows that we have few if ANY politicians, Public Officials in El Paso who even have any "ETHICS". Hell we could get inmates from County Jail off of trash pickup and let them sit on this "ETHICS"(???)Committ ee.

Too true. This is sickening. Also amazing is the Time's apparent lack of interest in addressing how WRONG this is. I hope at least the Newspaper Tree has something to state about this pathetic issue.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Libra

Get organized because that's the best way to be productive today. You're eager to be as efficient and practical as possible, but you won't get very far if you don't know what to do first. So draw up a list of priorities and start with the most urgent. Ideally, you should be left to your own devices while you do all this because that will aid your concentration and self-confidence.
