Mostly Politics // The Winners And Losers Of 2013
Herewith, "Mostly Politics'" first post-2012 winners and losers column - occasioned by last week's news that Colleen Hanabusa has decided to run against Brian Schatz next year to fill the two years remaining of the late Daniel K. Inouye's term in the United States Senate.
Over the last 20 years, there have been 10 major Democratic races that fit this mold, including four out of six Honolulu mayor's races and three out of six governor's races.
"She's struggling mightily between governor and Senate and has not made up her mind yet, but should do so shortly," said one person close to Hanabusa, who was granted anonymity to speak candidly about her plans.
