Commentary: Franken victory is not funny

You know what's funny about this commentary? The writer, Feehery, calls for "self reflection" for Republicans and then spends the remainder of the article assuring the GOP that the Democrats have overstepped themselves and will lose by virtue of their own hubris.

Feehery should rethink this. Franken's victory happened back in November and the Republicans need to get over themselves.

It's not a question of Democrats doing in Republicans, or a question of a bad brand-name. The problem is that the American people are sick unto death of bad policies robbing us blind and stealing our young peoples' lives in wars we illegally start and continue.

Rush is lampooned because he is a hypocrite. Drug use is just the context. I don't think anyone doubts that Franken is a pothead, it's just that educated potheads happen to know it isn't a disability, or else don't care, because unlike Limbaugh, Franken isn't a hypocrite about it.

4200 people died, but not for their country. I think you know what they really died for.

As for abortion, what kind of conservative is OK with giving the government power over personal medical decisions? Not a real one.

Bush earned his contempt on a daily basis by being an international embrassment that proved to the rest of the world that the American system of democracy's real down side is it's propensity to appeal to the lowest intellectual common denominator. Now that we have an actual smart President, hopefully this will change. Obama has spent more because he has Bush's mess to clean up.

Exactly how is Al Franken a "slimeball?" Rush Limbaugh makes 400 million dollars by lying to you, Maria. He lies non-stop. And folks like you believe him, Maria, that's why his character is at issue.

Now, about those 4,200 soldiers: They volunteered to serve and protect their country from threats. They didn't volunteer to be sacrificed in the name of an illegal war started under false pretenses.

The millions of legal abortions that have happened since the Roe decision -- those are not babies dying in their mothers' wombs. Those are abortions. Now, you can be against abortion. Lots of folks are. But you cannot in good conscience decide that since many Americans are pro-choice that they cannot care about their fellow Americans being killed in a war that could have and should have been avoided.

As for spending to get us out of the unholy mess the Republicans and Bush left us -- that's just what every economist has said we have to do.
The government is the only body large enough to absorb the enormous cost of what Mr. Bush did to this economy.

Finally, however, the economy is showing signs of turning around. Not that your Mr. Limbaugh will give any credit to Obama for that. No, the Democrats only get the blame from the hate-radio folks.
