The MP says the suggestion is "impractical and premature" and the government should firstly wait to see if the introduction of auto-tolls at the current Dartford Crossing in 2014 reduces congestion.

The Government are asking residents in south Essex to register their views on three options for a new crossing, all of which could blight Thurrock's towns and countryside.

MOTORISTS will face closures of three major roads in south Essex over the next 18 months as repairs are carried out to the county's electricity supply.
