Charles Hardt makes $178,156.80 a year. Why? How long has he been in this position?

It is not lack of funding. It is the lack of qualified leadership.

It took a study to figure this out? What is the problem with the city and having to study everything? Fix the roads, as they are some of the worst in the country.

I agree, FancyOne. Bummer that he CAN'T be fired. Guess we have to wait for him to kick the bucket to get someone more qualified to fill the job.

You nailed it, he makes an outrageous salary and has no idea what he is doing. Somebody fire this guy !! His salary alone would reinstate the TPD helicopter division...and which one would do more good for the city.

In my neighborhood they have been putting in speed bumps, if they would take the money and asphalt and use it on the streets that need to be fixed that would save a lot money too. Within 1 block they have 4 speed bumps but u go 4 more blocks on Pine ave the street in some spots has so many holes u have to drive around them or pop a tire, plus your suspension gets messed up. Someone needs to rethink how funding is done. I have lived here for 6 years and i hate to drive any where, these streets here are the worse i have ever seen.

What do you expect out of the Krappy Taylor and her administration?? Streets and everything else seem to dissolve during her stint as Mayor. No doubt she will join in the Obama Team and plead that it isn"t her fault,it is the fault of the previous administration! Go Mr.Perkins!!!!!!!

I just like the title, Short Sighted....more like blind as a bat! I have toured the US in the entertainment industry, been in every state, and TULSA IS the worst! Even the smallest town in Kentucky has better roads then we do. I have a cousin in california and they (the citizens) forced a law in to practice that all tax collections for roads are spent on roads nothing more and nothing less, and every person in the road department has caps on the salary!

This is nothing new for any Okie government. Jack roads and bridges taxes and devert the funds elsewhere. Why do paople keep voting for these taxes knowing darn good and well whats gonna happen with the money? I guess there will never be an end to the stupidity that comes over a person when a ballot is placed in front of them.

And don't forget the riverparks and all of the running and bike trails, If they would have made them wider they would be great roads to drive on.

How about spending the money wisely?

According to these guys it is OK to spend poorly and complain of lack of funds, which are less available by poor short term spending instead of spending for the long term.

How is this any different than poor people complaining of lack of money while paying their high interest pay day loans or complaining their bill isn't going down when they are spending so much on late fees and service interruption reinstatements? Or how about those who think it is cost effective to spend more on prepaid wireless because they can't get a real service provider due to that bill in collections (which isn't as high as the savings they'd have in a year time)?

And another things Tulsa. There is no need to spend all our money doing surveys to confirm that we want improvement. Instead start spending it actually improving!

All the years That I lived in Tulsa I always wanted the guy that got the kickbacks from the contractors that worked on the roads and bridges. To this day when I visit family in BA , I can't beleive that the same projects have never been completed. Has anybody ever thought of checking into the finances of the people that award the contracts?

In 1971 the city of Tulsa had more than 300 people working on the street repairs In 2009 the City of Tulsa has less than 50 people working on street repairs. There are twice as many lane miles to fix in 2009 than there were in 1971. Double the lane miles and reduce the work force. City hall cann't figure out why we got a bad report card for street maintence. It's not a mystery to me.

Libra

Unexpected pressure on the job may add stress to your day, but by evening you are ready to relax with your partner, best friend, or spouse. Take this opportunity to talk about what you have been going through lately. The more you can help your partner understand your experiences, the better. Make sure you allow him or her plenty of airtime, too! Make love a two way street.
