John Gisler also coached baseball, had teams called the Tulsa Travelers. They were in that age group.

4 years ago my son was a student at whitney middle school, and had told me that Mr.Gisler had asked him to go to his home to make money in exchange of cutting the grass i personally went to the school and adviced them of the situation and that it was not the first time, i was very upset that the school did not do anything about it.I confronted Mr. Gisler and I told him that if he ever offer anything to my son again i was going to call the police.

I said the same thing yesterday. My son was also his student and he tried to pursue my son. I shut him down quickly. I tried talking to people but nobody would listen. I warned my son to never, never leave his self in a position to be alone with this man and took my sons father to the school to let him know he had a father involved in his life. I think he was purposefully trying to pursue what he thought was a kid from a single parent home. I was a single mom but my son has a Dad very involved in his life. All the teachers at Whitney were awful, the principal was the worst. They lie and cover for each other no matter what the problem is. I have no doubt this boy is not his only victim and if you and I saw it I am sure many more did too but nobody at the school would do anything about it. They don't care about your kids only protecting their so called reputation. I know the principal will lie or do whatever to deny being warned or questions by parents because I caught him in more then one lie myself. I even secrectly tape recorded a meeting with him because of his lies and what he would say when no one else was around. Then later lie about it in front of others. One of the things he said was kids with disabilities needed to "just get over it" because nobody cares. Can you believe that! He or none of the other teachers there care about your kids. My awful experience with the teachers at Whitney was why I let my son go live with his dad, even though it broke my heart, just to get him out of TPS. I got news for everybody, Mr. Gisler isn't the only one there!!!!!!!! Be warned. There are also some teachers there who will verbaly abuse your kids too and possible, though not sexually, physically abuse your kids. It is an awful school but unfortunately I think that runs rampant in TPS all over. They just lie and go on though and you can't fight them. I tried and gave up. My son is in a great school, doing excellent and I am glad everyday I got him out.

Just wanted to say one more thing, always follow your instincts. My story and Liz's is proof that if it feels wrong act on it. Never be afraid to hurt someone's feelings or offend someone. When it comes to your kids safety never, never trust anyone if it doesn't feel right no matter who they are. Also after all the sexual abuse cases involving big brothers and sisters, no telling how many we don't hear or know about, I cannot believe they are still allowed to operate at all. I don't care how much good someone thinks they do. It's like having a dating game for pedophiles and just one victim is too many. I think it's time to shut them down. Bash me if you want but in this day and age I would never trust an operation like that with my kid and I can't believe anybody else does. This man tried to win me over by letting me know he was a big brother and that alone made me even more scared of him.

TPS school board is open for all parents....if the parents of Whitney feel this strongly about the administration...it is up to "you" to fight it. I realize this is a moot point now. However, for future reference. Glad your son is doing better.

The Big Brothers Big Sister program should be looked at more closely. This program has had problems in the past and was shut down for several years. I personaly know that the staff there were aware of other incidents between matches. There were times where the "child" came back to the program after they became older and informed staff of being molested. The staff there encouraged these victims not to go to the media and not to report to TPD. They are far more concerned about recieving funding and private donations then the saftey of the children. Big Brother Big Sister program promotes that they are safe and the saftey of the children is their main concern. Their concern is funding and making the numbers for grants. This is not an islotated incident. There are many more cases that the program has covered up

Nope, sorry they are not. I tried contacting the school board, went there in person, had meeting after meeting, went on line and tried contacting all types of administrative resources. Nobody would do anything about the issues I was having. Even went to our government agencies in OKC. Had conversation after conversation with people there but nothing came of it. There is no money or resources to hire better teachers or pursue these issues so apparently nothing can be done. That's when I gave up and just moved my son. The problem is there is only a handfull of parents who care and way too many who just don't. This is obvious when you read the news about so many bad kids today. Yes, it's the parents but you can't fight them all. Just to let eveyone know my experience with the school board, on 31st, was just as bad. All I met there was resistance and rude people. So rude I had to walk out to save my dignity, otherwise I might have ended up on the 6 o'clock news myself. I had a few choice words with them after meeting such rude people. They just don't want to hear about problems and certainly don't want to take the time to look into them. According to the school and the school board they will only blame everything on you because it can't be them, their teachers or any of the staff with TPS are all just perfect. Just read the original story on this, they say they never had any issues with him. LIE!! I know they have been told there was something wrong with this man and his behavior. That's all you get is lies, lies and more lies.

I disagree wholeheartedly with the person from Tyler TX who thinks they know how BBBS of OK is run. The organization is NON PROFIT-so, of course-funding, donations, grants-that is how their doors stay open! Thousands of children are served by this organization, and there is a waiting list of kids who still want and need their services. This man has committed a horrific act, and BBBS is taking action. But, as a reminder-this organization is run by people who have a love for children, and many who work or volunteer there have been a recipient of BBBS services in their lifetime, or wish they would have been! In no way should this vitim's plight be minimized, but to place blame on such an upstanding organization is unnecessary. I hope people also learn about the success stories of this agency, and understand that BBBS is here to HELP children, not to ever, ever, have them in harm's way.

If he is guilty I hope our judicial system gives him the max sentence....... but remember in this great country you are innocent until proven guilty. I hate when the media hangs someone out to dry before they even go to court. There could be a chance the kid made it up and this guys life is forever ruined because of it or he could have committed the acts and will end up being someones girlfriend in the pen.

Then WHY didn't you call big brothers and let them know your concerns??? If you really thought other children might be "victims", did you not care enough to try and help them?

"I never think that something happen like that around this neighborhood because really - he was so quiet that guy," Maria Saldierna said. "I never saw he do something. He was quiet man."

"He needs to be put away for good and not be able to hurt another person again," Kert McCarty said.

WOOOOOOOOOOW....he should have been educating his neighbors with all his molesting free time!!!

Tulsa Public schools needs to start being accountable. They do not listen to parents. They think we complain because we have nothing better to do. I will never understand why teachers are not checked out every year before they start teaching again. Who knows what happens after they are hired. My child went to Whitney for the last two years and we finally got a transfer, which TPS is also SLOW at getting done. Mr. Gisler definently has issues. We tried to talk to people at the school about it and all they could say was they would discuss it with the faculty at a meeting. This should all come down on TPS for hiring a child molester and having several people try to tell them and not listening.
