Emirates and Jetstar expand codeshare on more routes

Emirates and Jetstar have announced the expansion of their codeshare and frequent flyer relationship, to 30 routes across the Asia Pacific region providing more choice to Emirates customers. From 26 October 2014*, Emirates will grow its codeshare on Jetstar to include Jetstar Airways services between Melbourne and Ayers Rock , Christchurch to Wellington in New Zealand and three new destinations in south-east Asia from Jetstar Asia's hub in Singapore.

Fare wars: It's the best time to fly abroad

While Tigerair announced a special one-way base fare of Rs 10 only to Singapore for Indian passengers to commemorate completion of decade-long operations, Qatar Airways launched a global promotional offer of up to 25 per cent savings on its tickets to over 140 destinations across the world. Tigerair's Rs 10 one-way fare offer to Singapore would be applicable only on round trip tickets from India, under which the fare could be as low as Rs 7,499 including taxes, the airline said in a statement.

Widespread flight delays could hit Asia, including Singapore, in as little as five years if countries in the region do not act now and move as one to cope with growing flight numbers, warns the head of a leading air traffic research institute. At worst, "catastrophic gridlock" will lead to stagnation in the number of flights in Asia because air traffic controllers cannot cope with additional flights, said Mr Hsin Chen Chung, who heads the Air Traffic Management Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University .
