I happen to have had TKR surgery, and it has been a life changing event for me, in the best sense. But, the surgery and rehab were difficult and expensive.
If this new "cartilage plug" technology pans-out, it may remove a good portion of the difficulty. I'm certain the expense will be comparable, or more. The real up-side is that the patient will not be fitted with a prosthetic, but will retain their natural-born joint. To me, that's huge! My hat's off to those brave people that participate in these studies. |
