LONDON The weather may have been a factor but weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz said her lack of preparation and training was the main reason she could not have even reached the 12-woman final of the 58kg class in weightlifting in the 30th Olympic Games.

MANILA, Philippines Philippine Olympic Committee chairman Monico Puentevella still believes in lifter Hidilyn Diaz even after the athlete's disappointing performance in the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Hidilyn Diaz, the Philippines' flag bearer during the opening ceremony, ended her Olympic campaign in disappointing fashion after failing to advance past the group round of the women's 58-kg weightlifting event.

The 18-year-old could have taken a ride on the new cable car system spanning the River Thames to make her Olympic debut in the women's weightlifting at ExCel today.

"We fully support you . We are hoping of your good performance in the Olympics. Many will surely watch and follow you," deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in an interview over government-run radio station dzRB Radyo ng Bayan on Saturday.
