Top T&T swimmer George Bovell III will splash off his 2013 season when he competes at the Bolles High School-hosted Jax50 at the Bolles School Vible Pool, San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida today.

ON A long, balmy holiday weekend, when most of their contemporaries were enjoying themselves at the nation's beaches, close to 100 of Trinidad and Tobago's finest teenage athletes were doing their country proud on sporting fields far from home.

GRATEFUL: First Citizens Sports Foundation Sportswoman of the Year Kelly-Ann Baptiste holds the trophy after receiving the award at Friday night's function at Queen's Hall, St Ann's. Baptiste achieved several sub-11 clockings last year, including in the London 2010 Olympic Games 100-metre final, when she finished sixth in 10.94 seconds.

A total of 44 nominees will vie for the honours of First Citizens Sports Foundation Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year when the Foundation hosts its 2012 awards ceremony on March 22 at Queen's Hall in St Ann's.
