Sharpton: Seating Mich., Fla. delegates would be 'grave injustice'

“To raise that claim now smacks of politics in its form most raw and undercuts the moral authority behind such an argument.”

Seating delegates from Florida and Michigan at the Democratic National Convention would be a grave injustice, the Rev. via Baltimore Sun

Why does anyone care what this racist has to say anymore? Doesn't he have some college athletes to slander or strippers to send to college?

So allowing Michigan and Florida to have their voices count in an election to nominate a president is a GRAVE INJUSTICE. Why because it would give delegates to Hillary Clinton instead of the LEADER of the CULT.

Why don't we file a lawsuit to dis allow Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina and a couple of other states to have THEIR votes thrown out...what would he feel then.

obama has won mostly from the states with his heavy black votes and the controlled caucus states. We can see that the Hillary hate has extended into a fair election. But what did we expect the MSM hammers her relentlessly day and night. And nothing absolutely nothing negative about obama is allowed. WHY because the republicans want obama as the candidate because they know he is easy to be beat.

The states should've been stripped in the first place, but that's neither here nor there.

However, I guarantee that if Obama had won those states, Sharpton would be crying foul and demanding that the delgates be counted.

another reason to NOT support Obama - Sharpton is endorsing him.

Didn't Al and Jesse sue Florida in 2000 and 2004 claiming they were surpressing voters?
A grave injustice is what Al and Tawayna Brawley did to that innocent man.

As a resident of the great state of North Carolina, I too feel disenfranchised. North Carolina does not hold its election until May, long after the debris of losing and withdrawing canddates has hit the floor. Some of those candidates were the recipients of our monetary and volunteer support. Now what do we do with those who are left, those with whom we disagree?

A national Primary day is needed!

I don't understand why the Democratic Party believes it has the right to dictate to any state when they will hold any election, especially since it's the states that foot the bill for these primary elections.

If the politicians in Florida and Michigan had any backbone they'd pass a bill that prohibits the nominees from any party that holds a primary in their state but refuses to seat the delegates from being on the ballot in the general election. Given the number of electoral votes Michigan and Florida represent, my guess is the DNC and RNC (which has reduced the number of delegates those states are allowed to send to the GOP Convention) would back down in a New York minute.

Both candidates for the Democratic nomination are pushing for these delegates to be seated eventually. They're worried about depressing the Democratic vote in those states in the general election.

Have Sharpton and Bond fight it out on Pay per view in a UFC style Death match. With the mony going towards Obama (to help him win, which is their objective) and the world would be rid of one of them (better for everyone). Its a win win situation.

I guarantee that all you lovers of the status quo (READ: Conservative Clinton) would be objecting to Florida and Michigan being counted if Obama had taken those votes. Obama's name wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan! All of the candidates agreed months in advance that those States wouldn't count. Now, you want to change the rules when they don't benefit you. How typical. Always trying to move the line. That's OK... Obama gonna win anyway. He's beaten her in every demographic and by wide margins. The aristocracy is over! Bush. Clinton. Bush... Not! I am not a fan of Rev. Al but he's got this one 100% right! And if the Clinton campaign tries to steal the Dem election she will surely lose the general election.

Brother Al has good intentions.
We do not want Florida to be the power broker it was when Bush took the election from the people's choice for president in 2000"Al Gore".
We all know the results of that and its affect on our nation. Do we?

Obama and other candidates were not allowed to campaign in either state per the Democratic party . Clinton agreed to the same rules but none wants to change them and say she was the victor. How can she claim a victor when Obama was not even on the ballot in Michigan and did not campaign in Florida?

Obama now leads 136-151 elected delegates ahead of Clinton. If he wins in Wisconsin and Hawaii, there is little chance she can exceed 65% of the vote in Ohio and Texas.

Clinton needs to bury Obama in the next elections and I do not see it happening.

Here are five cartoons depicitng the issues Obama and McCain need to debate.

Hillary can't even manage her campaign successfully, with people either stepping down or being fired this late in the race. No thanks! America doesn't need that type of uncertain and fragile leadership at this point in our history.

"Both states were stripped of their delegates, and the party's presidential candidates signed a pledge not to campaign in either state."

Who campaigned in Florida? I think we can see how good Ms.Clinton's signed pledge is. Her campaign motto must be -"Win at all cost". Why hasn't any one called her out on this one? What is her next "dirty" trick?

The party is in quite a quandry. How do you seat delegates when one candidate has broken the rules and obtained an unfair advantage.

Obama is in a lose, lose situation. If he agrees to seat the delegates, he's handing votes to Hillary. If he objects to seating the delegates, then when the delegates are eventually seated (any one have any real doubts?) he's definitely on their s*&% list.

I think this is the only time I will ever agree with Rev Al Sharpton. I do generally think he is a buffoon and a racist. However, in this case, the DNC clearly said that those states' democratic parties cannot have their primaries before a certain date, since they want Iowa and New Hampshire to remain as the traditional beginning of the primary race. So Obama and the other candidates followed the rules, didn't run, and Clinton ran anyway. To have the Democratic Party leaders change the rules after it seems that Clinton isn't having a cakewalk, is worse than the prior fiasco in Florida with the hanging chads and the Supreme Court deciding the Presidential election. Clinton just needs to accept that she will not be the next President of the United States. If she pursues this sneaky strategy, she will wreck the Dems for this election.

McCain beats Hillary hands down.

Obama and McCain, slight edge to Obama but nothing for sure.

Hillary really does not have much experience, just a track record as a First Lady, Obama is substantially an unknown and McCain is not nearly as predictable as hard-corps Repubilcans would like.

My guess:

Obama/Edwards
vs
McCain/Huckabee

Each party hoping to swing the Southern states predominately there way with the VP...but it still turns on the top of the ticket.
