Full story: KMBZ-AM Westwood

We all need to get behind the Kansas House and support this effort to keep Kansas from being forced to accept what the government wants us to do or to be fined or taxed if we don't.

Marie, thanks for the welcome. I'm feeling great, the raw fruit and veggies in my diet are helping.

I got my new contract for my medicare, and based on the 500 billion they will pull from my advantage program, my co-pays and costs have gone up a lot. This makes me feel worse than the cancer.

We have a ton of leaves to take care of. Have a good day and try not to work too hard.

Hi Rick. I hope you fight off the cancer and get to feeling better. Medicare is pretty nice. My wife just got on it and we are saving about $300 a month over her previous premiums and it actually covers something. She had $5000 deductible and no drug coverage.

I don't agree that we should dump whatever the health care bill brings to us. However, I am pretty skeptical and think that there will be goodies for the insurance companies hidden within, that we will all have to pay for. I do however, think that we need to do something because the spiraling costs are wrecking the economies of both the country and patients. BTW, your Advantage plan is wrought with candy for the insurance industry. My wife and I are on supplemental plans because they are fixed and not subject to the whims of the insurance industry. I trust the government more than I do the industry.

Thanks for wishing me the best for fighting my cancer. I don't trust either the government of the insurance industry. If we could get competitive bids across state lines, it would help.

You must have more than we do. We just mow & mulch them in. I think of it as vacuuming outside. The rain has made it hard to get to them though, hasn't it? It's been an unusual fall.

Have you heard anything about taking liquid oxygen (drops)? I read about it when my Mom had cancer - that was some 15+ years ago. The idea being that cancer flourishes in an anaerobic environment.

I am mulching the leaves with my mower with a bag attached, then empty them into leaf bags.

I'm taking "Cell Food," which puts oxygen into the blood, 10 drops of which I put into a glass of water with 3 sprinkles of cayenne three times a day. http://www.luminahealth.com/products/cellfood...

I also eat almonds with my coffee to alkalize it. I eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables daily.

Thanks for the concern.

You must have a better mower than we do! It can mulch or bag, but not both.

I bookmarked the Cell Food. Hadn't heard about the cayenne - what is the benefit of it? Folger's makes a coffee that has reduced acid. Heard of Coral Calcium for alkalization? Any thoughts on that? How did you get into all this sort of thing? So many questions ...

I dealt with ovarian cancer - my mother and aunt both died from it. I was lucky - my tumor was found before it turned malignant. I used to take a lot better care of myself, need to get back into it.

Well, I'd best get my chores done before I go to my other work ...

Good to hear from you.

I am sure that would help but there needs to be anti-trust laws for the insurance industry. One of the problems with insurance, that is also inherent in government run insurance, is the fact that there is no incentive for the patient to take the economical route. The health industry finds ways to exploit this by inventing new drugs and procedures that may be marginally better but cost a whole lot more. They make more money that way. The doctors and patients have no reason not to utilize these because they are going to be paid for by the insurance corporations anyway.

Open competition with meaningful copay along with a higher charge for new and expensive treatments and drugs for the consumer would help. If this would result in much lower premiums, almost all would benefit. I think it is doable but am very concerned that the insurance lobbyists will spoil the process. They are doing quite well with what we have today. If they had invested their profits wisely, they would not have been caught up in the financial mess.

Rick op,

The way I understand this opt-out clause, the State can opt-out meaning no one in the state will covered under the National Health Care Plan, but they will still have to pay for the National Health Care plan with higher taxes.

What should be more bothersome to many of those who voted for Obama is the fact that he promised over and over again during the campaign that 95% of americans would receive a tax-cut.

THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

I'm sure he was just UNAWARE of how much his healthcare plan would cost.

If taxes replace premiums and the total cost is lowered, that is a cut. If taxes save money, they are productive. I think that you are unaware how much our health care is costing this nation today. We are losing industry to foreign countries because the employers cannot afford the high cost of insurance. Insurance that most of the foreign countries do not have to pay their employees. We already have expensive government coverage for many of our citizens and non citizens. Those with insurance are subsidizing the rest through elevated costs of providing emergency health care through the emergency rooms in our hospitals. Pharmaceuticals are protected from competition from foreign countries and were given massive subsidies from the government. Medicare was not allowed to bargain with them for lower prices.

It would be difficult to make things worse. But there is a large sector that wants things to remain the same. I wonder why? Someone must be getting a benefit from it all. I doubt that it is you. It was not me until I got old enough to get on Medicare. I am very glad that we have the government program called Medicare otherwise, I would have been frozen out of having any insurance at all. I suppose the alternative is to just let the senior citizens suffer and die without medical care so the industry can make money.

The term opt-out is a cloaked way of saying, the state can opt-out of the Nationoal HealthCare Plan HOWEVER, you still have to pay for it with your taxes.

It's a scam, AGAIN, to make people feel as though they have a choice.

If you opt-out, you still have to pay the taxes for the National Plan, BUT THEN YOU MUST pay additionally for any coverage you decide you want with an insurance company.

OPT-OUT only means YOU PAY - BUT YOU DON'T PLAY!

The Democrats have simply changed the wording.

This whole process has been flawed from the beginning.
Not ONE republican legislator has been invited to the table.

Even Democratic legislators who have offered amendments to keep abortion from not being covered have had their amendments voted down.

THIS IS CRAZY STUFF!!
I would hope even you are not in favor of this type of stuff.

OMG - i guess so ...

From Senator Grassley's leadership position on the Senate Finance Committee, he works to find policy solutions that will make health care coverage more affordable and health care services accessible and accountable. In recent years, Congress responded to grassroots messages calling for portability of health insurance, curbing practices that denied coverage for pre-existing health conditions and creating a Medicare prescription drug benefit.

Good to hear from you.
I got into this due to my first diagnosis of prostate cancer in December 2000. I joined an on-line cancer problems web site and learned more about health and cures than I had my whole life before. I was healed in 2002, diagnosed again in 2004, healed in 2006, and diagnosed again in June this year.

I tried coral calcium for awhile and then found out from chemists that it is no better than a lot of other things out there. I have a good friend from my church that is a chemist who is retired from the FDA, and he gives me the lowdown on drugs, vitamins, etc.

CellFood is not cheap. It costs from $27.00 to 30.00 an ounce, depending on where you buy it.

I don't believe anything either the Bush administration Republicans or the Obama administration tells us about healthcare.

I spent some time with several Kansas legislators, and the amendment they are working on will allow us to lean on the Tenth Amendment of the US constitution: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

A paragraph in the Kansas Amendment reads:
"Be it further resolved: That all compulsory federal legislation which directs states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties or sanctions or requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding be prohibited or repealed; and Be it further resolved: That a copy of this resolution be distributed
to the President of the United States, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate of each state’s legislature of the United States of America, and each member of the Kansas Congressional Delegation.
http://www.pilchercook.com/TenthAmendment/200...

Ten States have already done this and seven, including Kansas, are in the process of doing it. The administration will take it to federal court.

Who knows what will happen.
