It seems like Topix is posting a lot of news articles lately that require a paid subscription to read the material. Always research the little bit of content it gives you or the title to read the full article free of charge on another news site.

This particular article can be summed up with the following:

Homophobic right-wing conservative ostensibly "religious" group uses lies and propaganda to create a fear-mongering scare campaign to frighten church-goers into believing that homosexuals were going to turn their kids gay and show hardcore homosexual pornography in kindergarten.

In other words, SSDD.

It didn't work in the 80s.

It didn't work in the 90s.

Why in the fu** is it working now? Have people lost control of their faculties from some black ops project of the government that we don't know about? I mean, seriously. This is "The Jesus Film" all over again, and just as ludicrous. Come on, people! THINK FOR YOURSELVES!

Churches recruit.
Gays don't.
Churches indoctrinate.
Gays don't.
Religious dogma is a lifestyle choice (you don't HAVE to be Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Protestant, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu...you have a choice to be whatever you want to be)
Homosexuality is something you're born with (meaning if you're gay, you're gay. There is no "praying the gay away" anymore than there is the ability to pray to become a homosexual).

or they should come up with a commercial that shows kids playing and learning in school and when there teacher tells the kids... "okay kids I want you to reach in and pull out your books its time for history" they all pull out the Christian Bible. and in the next segment the teacher says "okay kids I want you to pull out your books its time for science and they all pull out the bible. and when there ready the teacher tells them...okay I want you to pull out your books its time for our english lesson for today"...they pull out the bible. and the Narrator comes on..."We dont teach our kids about Gay Marriage in our schools why are we teaching them about religion. Kids are the future lets not take away there rights"

I sent this article to a couple of organizations who are looking to overturn Prop 8 at the ballot box in 2010.

Maybe they can finally find the real truth to make folks listen.

Like the one person said.......this isn't really going to happen but if it is perceived it will happen then that is all that matters.

Maybe Olson and Boies need to see this, along with Justice Walker.

Should kids learn about homosexuality in school? That we exist? That it exists in nature? That is has been considered immoral and sinful in some societies (and not in others)? Yes, they should learn all this. Just

What would happen if kids are taught that some people are gay? Will more kids turn gay? No, of course not, it does not work like that. But for kids who are gay, they will not feel so isolated, so different, so
alone, so shunned, so hated (enough so that the suicide rate among young gay people is three times higher than their non-gay contemporaries).

Kids who are gay CAN grow up feeling OK about themselves. They will be less likely to hide to themselves, to follow an inappropriate (for them)
hetero normative lifestyle that is against their nature, to live an unfulfilled life on the down-low.

Since teaching homosexuality is a big deal with the voters and gays want their equality rights, then its about time they take a position to settle the issue. Does the LGBT community want homosexuality be taught in school? Yes or No?

Irrelevant question. Is heterosexuality taught in schools? Our rights aren't determined by whether something is or isn't taught in schools. That is a deflection done by liars who can't come up with a legitimate reason to deny us equality.

All we want is equal rights and to be able to live our lives openly and honestly without persecution from the majority.

Why do you want to teach persecution in schools?

I think a small part of the puzzle is that people in this country are frightened. They went through 9/11 and the scare tatics of the Bush administration for 8 years. Then they were hit will the recession, losing a major part of their savings, and many lost their jobs, with no hope in sight. It is now easier for the right to give them a scapegoat, much as Hitler did with the Jews.

I'm not saying that all of the people are in this situation, mentally, but I believe a large number are. Add to that the already existing ignorance and religious fervor, and you add millions to the list of people who look at us with suspicion.

They will deny it all the want, But this video just shows that they want it taught in schools. They cant hide the facts from this video.

If homesexuality is taught in Maine schools I will take my kids out of school and move to a state that doesnt....kids are not stupid....they can figure out if they are straight or gay. How did you people figure out that you were gay? Did someone have to tell you? Did they pressure you into it....like you do now?

That's a lie and you know it. We don't teach homosexuality in schools, and we don't advocate it. What we do advocate is that people should learn that there are people different from them, and they tolerance of others is appropriate. And by the way, this is about a gay-straight alliance group, which is about tolerance, not sex. Don't bother answering. I am getting off the computer and going on vacation, so I won't see your answer for 2 weeks, and even if I did, I wouldn't read it, cause I know you have nothing constructive to offer.
