California Voters Don't Want Same-Sex Marriage Back on the Ballot - Los Angeles Times/Usc Poll

Full story: SF Sentinel

A small majority of California voters supports the right of gay couples to marry, but a much larger portion of voters opposes efforts to place the issue back on the ballot next year, a new Los Angeles Times/USC poll has found.

Simply said: This society does not want gay marriage.

My personal reason: Save kids. Parents are the greatest influence on how children grow up—who they become. There will be adoptions by gay partners of children with straight genes. And these poor kids will see same-sex affection and lust as being OK.

So how’s a young man who grew up with gay parents going to relate to other young men in school?(Sodomy in the bathroom is not beyond belief.) And, how is he going to react to the opposite sex given role models that give him no guidance at all. Same-sex marriage will create those problems. I’m all for making already troubled teen years as simple as possible.

We’re having this debate because of politicians who will sell children’s souls for a bloc of votes. The day of reasoned debate on issues is gone in America. So is a concern with morals.(i.e. Nancy Pelosi, nominal Roman Catholic, among others.) Politicians want to keep their jobs and they bend to special interest groups with money.

Middle Americans’ who have moral or social concerns are not heard because they’re not a cohesive group and don’t ply politicians with money. Gays are organized and shower money on politicians. That’s why gay marriage wins at the legislative level.

so, you, like so many others, feel that a child living with an unwed mother....or father....on unemployment and taking god knows what..is better than two loving parents who happen to be the same sex? I think that people are afraid of getting it back on the ballot and having it pass, and stay passed, without the influence from other states.
I will say this, I am straight...and married....and think that marrige should be between two people who love each other...period! The gender of those people should not and does not matter.

You do realize that the initiative is not about adoption by two parents of the same sex? That's already legal and common in California. At best what you may be doing is depriving kids of the care of a second responsible adult in cases of emergency. Good work there.

Sexual orientation is not contagious. It is not transmitted from one person to the next; not even from toilet seats in school bathrooms; and most certainly is not taught nor learned.

Just look how impossible it is for you to learn about sexual orientations other than your own. It simply cannot be learned. You are living proof of that.

One problem that has become apparent is out-of-state interference in state-level elections. Why bother to have a state government if outsiders from other states are going to control everything?

The mormon mafia keeps the public off mormon property with fences and guardhouses. If this is the only language mormons understand, is it going to become necessary to fence California and build guardhouses at border crossings just to keep the mormon mafia from interfering with California politics?

No it's not unconstitutional. The DOMA on the federal level has not been overturned. Not only have quite a few states kept marriage (one man and one woman), some of them have even passed state constitutional acts keeping marriage.

In states where is has been put to a vote to the people, they have voted to keep marriage.

There is nothing unconstitutional about keeping marriage.

I'm also think a single-mother family is a bad idea. Look at Chicago where young men have no good male role model in single-mother families. There's plenty of violence that stems from that. That's just as wrong as gay couples raising children. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I did not say sexual orientation is contagious. I said children learn relationships from their parents. And I believe those whose orientation is heterosexual can't learn hetero relationships well in a gay household.

If you can get a gene test that says a child is homosexual, then adopt the child. If the test says the child is hetero in nature--keep you hands off him or her!

Gina, I'm sorry for your loss. But if you and your partner had adopted a heterosexual young boy, you would have deprived him of a role model in how to relate to heterosexual women. Dating is hard enough even if you have an appropriate role model.

Wil dude, get real! 90% of gays are raised by hetero parents and we are still gay, if what you are trying to say is true then we should have been straight, because that is how we were raised.

*shakes head and wonders just how Wil/David ever survived with such off the wall thinking.*

So David, is that what you are trying to tell us happened to you?
Many women, straight or gay know and have male friends and family members that the young man can talk with about such dating things.

Clueless as ever aren't you.

Is that the excuse you tell yourself when you can't get a date at less than $200.00 per hour? Don't you have any compassion for other people's suffering?

As a taxpayer I don't want my money wasted on another election that will amount to the same thing, there's no way that my vote on this matter will change. 31 states have already voted against gay marriage the latest being Maine. I say if they want to find out the hard way, let them pay for it this time! Californians have better things to do than patronize the abusive behavior of this special interest group.

Gay people suffer because they choose to suffer.

So you believe that gay people not only choose their sexual orientation, we also choose to get cancer or get hit in a traffic accident. We also chose to be slaughtered by the Nazis.

What a shining example of Xtian compassion you are!

BTW, how's the choice to become straight going? not so well, huh? Thought so.
