Foiled Again notches third Quillen Memorial title

A large crowd filled the Harrington grandstand, watching harness racing's heavyweights among the older horse pacing ranks battle it out on Delaware's half-mile racetrack. Owned by Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi and JJK Stables, the 10-year-old Foiled Again assumed command from his rail post position just past the quarter mile in 26.3. He led the rich field of eight, whose combined lifetime bankroll is near $15 million, to the half mile in 55.1 and three-quarters in 1:23.1. Stable mate Clear Vision, who won the 2013 Quillen, received his marching orders from driver at the half mile and battled first over but could not get closer than a half length from Foiled Again at the wire.

Yes beats No in Scottish independence horse race

The two-horse race saw Yes We Can storm to a four-length victory over its rival Neigh Thanks at Musselburgh racecourse. The five-year-old gelding, ridden by Scottish jockey Rachael Grant, went to the front early on and stayed out of reach of Neigh Thanks running in the Better Together silks.

Dani Lewis dies in tragic accident

Lewis is believed to have been pulled from the cart by a horse she was jogging, subsequently throwing her onto the edge of a garden bed and breaking her neck. Known for her association with promising youngster Kiss Kenny, Lewis has been described as "a lovely young woman who was terrific with horses" by the pacer's trainer Greg Hansen.

Harness trainer killed at Cranbourne track remembered

A Cranbourne harness racing trainer and driver killed on the track on Monday morning has been remembered as a "diamond in the rough with a heart of gold". Danielle Lewis, 28, was training at the racetrack in Melbourne's south-east was found unconscious in a garden bed at 7.10am and was unable to be revived.
