From Soup Ta Nuts: Edgar's Oscar Senate Stalemate Li'l Stevie's Circus Smirkus Big Top Indy Edition

Good Morning, Racing City, USA and World! ... Hall of Famer Edgar Prado had a great Saturday at Belmont Park when he won the Suburban with Dry Martini and the Dwyer with Kensei (a stablemate of Rachel Alexandra). Dwyer betting favorite Warrior's Reward broke poorly and got up for the show. Isn't it so true that most races are either at the start or in the stretch? The Jim Dandy on Union Avenue is next for the three year olds from the Dwyer on Saturday, August 1st and the older males will Saratoga Sunrise in the Whitney on the 8th. ... The NYS Senate stalemate drags on. California may have its problems (an understatement?), but at least there is a government in Sacramento. Nuff said. ... Summer 2009 is washing along and please, let's not have a repeat of '08 where the fist three weeks of the six week racing meet washed out. Beach weather is coming. I can just feel it! ... And we're ending this column right back where we started it, we'll across the street, anyway. Across the street from the Racing Hall of Fame is the Main Gate. And yesterday and today (sounds like a Beatles album, huh), the Independence Day Weekend feature inside of the Main Gate is not thoroughbred horse racing. However, Li'l Stevie had a great time at Circus Smirkus. If you couldn't make it into the Big Top yesterday, you can still catch the great youth circus today. Isn't there a little Ringling in all of us? ... And Dat's Everything ... From Soup Ta Nut! Circus Smirkus photo by Stephen Sherokey
