I-95 Fix Won't Be Soon

Motorists navigating the stretch of I-95 where three drivers died last week should not expect concrete safety barriers to be erected any time soon, though the governor on Monday ordered the state Department of Transportation to expedite their installation.

'We are jump-starting the modernization of the highway,' Gov. M. Jodi Rell said. 'I have ordered DOT to expedite the placement of Jersey barriers on I-95 in this area. I want this done as soon as possible.'

The governor said she also ordered the DOT to repaint I-95's highway lines as quickly as possible, from Exit 71 in East Lyme to Exit 83 in New London. Read more
