But one councilman suggested the board may reopen the 2008 spending plan when four new members take office in January.

Councilman Rich Hendricks said it's likely new council members will want to ''tweak'' parts of the budget next month. He voted against the budget's approval, saying there wasn't enough discussion about it.

Hendricks said he has no reason to believe those new council members plan to raise taxes or the electric rate. Read more

Stoia, 41, formerly of Perkasie, pleaded guilty in October 2006 to helping her then-boyfriend Robert Gress sexually abuse a 12-year-old girl, after cutting a deal with prosecutors to wear a wire and testify against him.

Pointing out that judges have wide discretion, and can even order certain sex offenders' names to appear on the Web site, Judge Rea Boylan said she could not see any reason to grant Stoia's request. Read more

The last thing the 20-year-old Perkasie man remembered from his night out was going down a flight of stairs and then waking up in a hospital bed.

Police say Battle was pummeled outside his 108 Stonycrest Drive home by the same two men who drove him home from JT Bankers bar. His left eye shut and his face bruised and cut, Battle needed a plate and four screws inserted into his face during a six-day hospital stay, he said. He still gets sharp pains in his face and said his peripheral vision hasn't been the same since. Read more
