Palm Beach County homeowners groups asked to join terror fight

"I'm not going to do that until they straighten out this item."

Health Department officials hope homeowners groups in southern Palm Beach County will sign on to a program and provide enough volunteers to quickly deal with a potential anthrax or bio-terror attack.

'Communities in the county account for half the population,' Health Department spokesman Tim O'Connor said. 'We could get them medication, and they could execute distribution in their community.'

Under the federal Cities Readiness Initiative, Palm Beach County is given access to a government stockpile of medicines that could kill toxins such as anthrax. Read more
